Which personal data we collect and why

Comments and contact forms

When visitors leave comments on our website, we collect the data appearing on the comments form as well as the visitor’s IP address and the chain of user agents on the browser in order to help detect spam.

An anonymous chain created from your e-mail address (also called hashtag) may be provided to the Gravatar service in order to see if your are using it. The privacy policy on the Gravatar service is available here: Once your comment is approved, your profile picture becomes visible to the public in the context of your comment.


If you leave a comment on our site, you can choose to keep your name, e-mail address and website in cookies. This is for your own convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details each time you leave a comment. These cookies will be valid for one year.

If you have an account and you connect to this site, we will temporarily install a cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal details and is deleted once the browser is closed.

When you log in to a session, we will also install several cookies to keep your information from the login and your screen viewing options. Login cookies last for two days and the screen option cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember me”, your login will last for two weeks. If you exit your account, the login cookies will be deleted.

If you edit or publish an item, an additional cookie will be kept on your browser. This cookies does  not include any personal details and simply indicates the ID of the article that you have just edited. This expires after 1 day.

How long is your data kept for?

If you leave a comment, the comment and your metadata are kept indefinitely. This is so that we can recognize and approve successive comments automatically rather than keeping them in a moderation queue.

From the users registered on our website (if any), we also store any personal information provided in your user profile. All users can see, edit or delete this personal information at any point in time (except that they are unable to change their user name). The website administrators can also see and edit this information.

What are your rights regarding your data?

If you have an account or have left comments on this website, you can ask to receive an export file containing the personal data that we have on you, including any data they may have provided us with. You may also ask to have any personal data deleted that we have on you. This does not include any data that we may be obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security reasons.
